The 1956 film was screened for the first time at Cannes, marking Iraq’s historic participation.
The 2025 Cannes Film Festival featured the restored Iraqi classic 'Saeed Effendi' (1956) by director Kameran Hassani, marking Iraq’s first official participation. The screening was a result of the Iraqi Cinema Support Initiative and the Ibn Al-Haytham Committee, in collaboration with INA and the French Ministry of Culture. The film was restored in 4K and presented to a global audience, honoring Iraq's cinematic legacy.
